'Smiling lots, laughing loads because today has been a great day! Beautiful sunshine and lots of wind, perfect written all over it'
Had a great day on Friday, up at 6am for a refreshing swim- Best way to start the day! Followed by three great sessions split throughout the day!

I had the opportunity to visit Brandvlie Dam for kiting a couple of weeks ago. It's set an hour and half in land in Worcester.
I haven't ever kited in such a place, there was so much space and you are surrounded by mountains. I started out riding on my 8m Catalyst, dropped down to my 6m in no time and soon enough I needed my 4m. When it came to late afternoon I went back on my 8m for a good freestyle session! All photos- Jon Bidwell The event kicked off yesterday, late afternoon at Big Bay, so I had time to session in the morning at Sunset beach and Big Bay in the afternoon before the event.
The wind wasn't as strong as desired but it still went ahead and the riders showed off some great riding. Fingers crossed for a solid forecast Saturday when the competition will continue! I arrived in Cape Town for the KOTA last Monday. A little different to what I am used to, being more of a wave spot, warm weather but freezing cold water. We’ve have had only two days of good wind and some light wind evening sessions, heading North a few times to Sharks Bay, Langebaan, it has been a great week so far.
Making the most of the no wind days we’ve climbed up Table Mountain, visited African Markets, drank cocktails and great meals out. As we are now in the waiting period for the King of the Air, there’s a lot of hanging around checking forecasts waiting for the strongest day. I’m looking forward to spending my next two months here in SA. |
