I was greeted with beautiful weather in the Gold Coast when I arrived. Only a 2 hour plane journey from Melbourne yet the weather can be so different. Lots to see and do when there isn't much wind, including surfing. Taking a trip to Byron during my first week here for a little adventure was great, surrounded by beautiful beaches, lovely trail walks, it kept myself busy.
I headed to Point Henry with Adam, it was only my second time here but my first session there was unreal. Butter flat water and strong wind, just incredible. This time the weather was stormy, I went from pumping and setting up my 10m Ozone Enduro, to setting up my 9m without even getting onto the water. Soon enough I was ready for my 7m, but there was no way I was pumping a third kite up, as the wind was so up and down I figured to stay out and just go big. It was great! And a nice way to finish off my season in Melbourne. Well what a weekend for my 21st birthday, definitely the best by far. What more could you want when you're surround by great friends, the beach and great places to eat out. Saturday started off with a trip to Inverloch with the girls, Katie, Carmen and Megan. We got it so good! All out there, the sun was shining and rocking in our pink boots. So good we didn't want to leave. It takes a good 2hrs, maybe more to get to Inverloch, heading back mid afternoon for celebration food and drinks in the city on one of the Roof Top bars. Finishing up not too late, ready for the 6am surf in the morning! Heading to Point Danger, Torquay nice and early was great. The waves were big to what I've been out in before and I'm still learning, but being a water baby I had to get out there. After the first session and breakfast at a cafe, I headed round to Bell's Beach to watch the final's of the World Surf League with Adam. WOW! It was pretty good, such atmosphere and awesome surfing.
Competition ended and time for round two back at Point Danger. Waves were much better this time. Mid afternoon we headed back to Melbourne just in time for a spontaneous sea breeze to kick in! 3 sessions in one day was just too good to be true!! What a good weekend! |
