After a 6 month trip to New Zealand a year ago, I would never have thought that Id be spending another season the side of the world for a while, let alone Australia, It’s a long old way from the UK and nobody likes the jet lag. But here I am, 2 weeks in and loving every bit.
I’m staying in Melbourne, St Kilda as I am instructing for Go Kite this season. My first impressions are great. It’ very similar to England but much better. I’ve already had a lot of good sessions and training time since I’ve been here, after not riding so much at home in the last few months it feels good to be back on the water. We’ve had a mixture of all sorts of weather- light wind sessions, flat water but mostly high-wind sessions where I get to put my 6m Catalyst back into action. It’s all getting me amped for the New Zealand Nationals which I’m flying over for next week. This year the Nationals are held by Wind Warrior Kite Sports HQ (Glen Butcher) at Foxton Beach just North of Wellington in the North Island. After competing at NZ’s last National event in Christchurch and taking the title for the ladies, I’m excited to compete once again. |
